HOW DOES CLUTTER AFFECT ME?
- Your home will be difficult to keep clean and tidy because you will be constantly trying to tidy clutter.
- Simpler homes = less time cleaning.
- Clutter causes stress. It’s hard to relax completely in a home that is crowded with stuff and cluttered.
- Clutter causes frustration.
SO WHAT IS CLUTTER IN MY HOUSE?
These are 7 simple rules to clutter to help you decipher what to keep and what to toss.
- If I haven’t used it within the last year or probably never will… it’s clutter!
- If it’s broken and has been broken for the last year, I obviously have no intention of ever fixing it or using it… so it’s clutter!
- If it doesn’t fit me, and hasn’t fit me for a year… it’s clutter!
- If it’s valuable or an heirloom, and I want to keep it for my children or a close relative… it’s worth keeping.
- If it’s a gift I am hanging onto just because it was a gift, not because I like it or use it… it’s clutter!
- If I have 25 sets of the same thing… it’s clutter!
- If it’s past the use-by-date… it’s clutter!
